Every gift made to the Olathe Youth Symphony (OYS) has a positive impact on tour talented young musicians. Regardless of the size of the gift, your generosity helps support the development of our young members while they explore the endless possibilities music can bring to their lives. Student participation fees meet many of the expenses associated with the OYS program. However, as a non-profit organization, the OYS could not provide our young musicians with a rich musical experience without the generosity of our donors! Individuals, foundations, corporations and in-kind services support the OYS experience!
Your generous donation in any amount is appreciated! The OYS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization so 100% of your financial gift is tax-deductible.

· Businesses and organizations
· Individual donors
You can designate your donation in one of three areas:
~ Area of Greatest Need: Purchasing concert spaces, purchasing music, purchasing an instrument, securing a sectional coach, securing a guest artist, and/or general business operations.
~ Sponsoring an OYS Student/Financial Aid; $200/per year/per student
~ Senior Scholarships: Annually, after OYS Board review, 2-3 scholarships are awarded to OYS seniors for their 1styear of college. Students must be majoring or minoring in some aspect of music or music education. The one-year scholarships are typically $500 - $1000 each.
ALSO AVAILABLE:
*Tribute donations: Made in honor (birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc.) or in memory of someone.
*Employer Match: Some employers will also match your gift, thereby doubling its impact! Check with your Human Resources department to see whether your employer has a matching gift program, or we can contact the department for you.

Annually, OYS awards scholarships to seniors who apply and are awarded a scholarship for their higher education endeavors. Senior who apply must plan on pursuing a major or minor in some field of music. The application process is identified, which includes completing a form, writing an essay, and obtaining two letters of reference. The OYS Board of Directors rates applications and awards the scholarship.
A TRIBUTE SCHOLARSHIP can be identified to honor an individual(s). For example, during the 2023-24 season, the family of Jan O'Rourke created a $500 scholarship in Jan's memory - the Jan O'Rourke Memorial Scholarship. What a wonderful way to honor someone and to impact the future of an outstanding young musician! If you are interested in pursuing a Tribute Scholarship ($500 minimum), please contact olatheyouthsymphony@gmail.com
Planned giving, also known as deferred or legacy giving, is a way for donors to make charitable contributions to nonprofits through their estate or financial plans. We are thankful to those indivdual's who are have included the Olathe Youth Symphony in their long range giving plans. While it is not necessary to notify OYS of your intent, it is helpful for recognition and planning efforts. A Planned Giving Declaration Form is available. If you have any questions or are interested in receiving a form, please email olatheyouthsymphony@gmail.com You are helping to impact our talented young musicians!
Donate your time and talents to support OYS! Whether you are interested in helping to keep our music library organized and updated, setting up the stage for concerts, and/or assisting with special events, your help is critical and welcomed!
Separate SignUpGenius Opportunities are sent to parents.
Want to sponsor the purchase of an OYS owned instrument? We are always looking to expand our percussion equipment. Give the gift of music!
OYS also accepts good quality instruments. If you have an instrument that you or your children are no longer use, please consider donating it. There is a young musician in our community who could use it.
*A letter acknowledging your gift will be sent to you for tax purposes.
Note: Instruments that cannot be used by the OYS will be donated to the Olathe District through the Olathe Public Schools Foundation which operates the Dr. B. Musical Instrument Fund.
