WELCOME OYS MEMBERS & FAMILY!

• Black dress pants
• White long sleeve tuxedo-style dress shirt
• Black tuxedo-style coat encouraged for Symphony members, but not required. Jacket is optional for Philharmonic members.
• Black bowtie (no patterns or other colors)
• Black socks and black dress shoes

• All black ankle length dress or ankle length skirt (no sequins, designs or slits).
• Long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve black dress top if pairing with a skirt; If dress or top do not meet sleeve requirement, a black blazer or cardigan may be worn.
• Black shoes. (Make sure you will be able to walk across the stage in the shoes.)
• Cello players may wear black dress pants or palazzo pants with a black dress top if desired.

In the case of weather-related cancellations or postponements, there will be a weather announcement on the website home page, email notifications, and posts on social media. Those signed up for OYS text notifications will receive a notification. Cancellations are very rare, so please assume rehearsal is on unless you hear otherwise.

Olathe Youth Symphony believes it is important for all of its members to participate in their school music programs, if available, and expects such participation except in cases of unavoidable scheduling conflict. Participation in a school music group not only helps advocate for fine arts education, it is important for the development of ensemble and leadership skills which can in turn strengthen the OYS ensembles.

OYS ensembles are meant to complement other music instruction and thus enhance musical development; they are not intended to be a replacement for school or private instruction.

SEATING: All seating is at the discretion of the OYS musical directors, and will take into account many factors. Seating order will be presented at the first rehearsal in September.

PHOTO/VIDEO & ANNOUNCEMENT RELEASE:  Pictures/videos and announcement regarding OYS students may be posted on the OYS website, OYS sponsored social media sites and YouTube Channels, and/or printed in OYS documents such as concert programs.  Seldom are student names used except for OYS membership rosters; concert programs; special recognitions, such as awards, senior graduation, senior scholarships; and other avenues to highlight the accomplishments of OYS members.  Questions or concerns regarding this release should be sent to olatheyouthsymphony@gmail.com.
